The narrative behind this painting is simply me feeling both joy and melancholy at how long we wait, in England, for the beauty of the bluebell and blossom and wildflowers of April and how fast they all disperse again. Even the pheasant is trying to hold onto it all. April, in English countryside, is simply stunning and I think I have expressed this fleeting moment here quite well.
