This work was inspired by Bootsie, my cat. She was more than a feline and preferred that I call her a 'person of fur.' Bootsie was my friend and dear companion of 16 years and passed away in 2006. I was both sad and grateful to have shared so many wonderful memories with her and to have moved across the US with her from Los Angeles to Knoxville. Like they said on my favorite episode of the tv series LOST, she was my 'constant.' A 'constant' is that rare person in our lives that keeps us grounded in the present, both emotionally and cognitively. I hope viewers may share some of the joy, gratitude and mystery that our familiars impart to our lives. Bootsie was also a born performer like her namesake Bootsy Collins. She even had star cameo appearance in a tv series I produced and directed for E! Entertainment called Mysteries & Scandals. She played a sick cat named after Judy Garland that Judy sang OVER THE RAINBOW to. True story: the cat lived longer thereafter than Judy did!
