Grinton Moore, South Yorkshire

This piece was inspired by looking out over Grinton Moore Dawn. There is something so quiet and humble, yet exalted and magnificent about these lowland fields of heather and lovely tiny little flowers that can grow in that terrible salty soil. Late summer in England the sky is still a perfect shade of longing. The fields are no longer purple per se, with Heather blooms, but are starting to get ready for the fall descent to scrub. Though the heat is well past its peak there are other tiny meadow blooms scattered everywhere of every possible kind, yellow, orange, red, and just a teeny hint of the coming brown of winter.
