Wheelchair in the window

Photographed inside an abandoned psychiatric hospital, this image features a wheelchair resting alone beneath barred windows and surrounded by decades of deterioration. Illuminated by natural light, the chair serves as a quiet reminder of the patients who once moved through these halls and the histories embedded within the institution. Through black and white documentary photography and urban exploration, the image examines themes of memory, vulnerability, preservation, and the passage of time. Part of an ongoing body of work documenting abandoned and historic locations through urban exploration (urbex) across New York and New Jersey. Fine art prints are available in multiple sizes and mediums.
