I studied his work in NY’s MOMA, in Barcelona and Paris. More recently at the Queens Museum there was an exhibit on the making of the 1964 NY World’s Fair. Matisse was debilitated and could barely move but still managed to create a gigantic cut out style sculpture there. It is graceful and uplifting. He always rose to his work with wit and joy. I think of his strength and courage when I am challenged. I hope viewers will simply some lightness and joy in experiencing this piece. I chose to use childrens paste on stickers made of neon foam, which I cut into playful curving shapes. That and markers and other children's craft tools.
