In the dream I am floating in the water, a warm deep cave full of dappled light. Perhaps a Cenote off the coast of Mexico or a Carribean Island. I the dream, I am using my hands to propel myself deeper and deeper into mysterious worlds. Every few feet deeper I go is a different layer of living seaweed, tiny fishes and coral. The peculiar part of the dream is I never feel the need to breathe, and the cave gets lighter and brighter the deeper I dive. Maybe viewers will enjoy the colors and textures of this piece and that would be enough for me. It is certainly abstract, rather than a factual visual rendering of the vision. The core purpose here is to convey the awe and delight of discovering mysterious realms below the surface. Hopefully that will come through. I chose a vertical composition in order to emphasize the sense of depth and exploration. Many different gel textures, colors and materials are woven through the layers of the piece. Small plastic jar tops, bits of scrap paper, clear matte glitter, even sand.
