Köllwitz she was able to evoke both anguish and supernal, horrifying beauty at the same time. It is difficult to portray things and people we usually try to avoid, but without putting a name and a face to fear we cannot overcome it. I hope viewers will be taken in by the dark sense of evil manifested. I chose to use child’s playthings like Dreidels and other cultural signifiers to allude to deeper issues.
