They were tried and imprisoned in labor camps for years for the made up crimes Putin and his minions used to charge them with sedition, treason and defilement of sacred property. I hope viewers will enjoy the Protest Collage I created, which was commissioned for my 2017 solo exhibit 'METHODS OF INTIMIDATION' at the American University of Paris Art Galleries. I opted in this piece and approximately 1 dozen others within the larger exhibition to created an intentionally layered Graffiti style here. The idea was to create the impression that these works were made up of actual protest and rally posters. Signs left on walls for months and years and beginning to degrade with the passage of time and weather. My intention and hope is for the casual viewer to become curious about the brave women of PUSSY RIOT. What they stand for, what they did and what they endured to bring the focus of millions of people globally to repression, dictatorship and injustice-- not just within the Russian Federation, but across the world! I chose to work in a composite, layered format with different panels of pictures, designs and motifs. What do you make of it?
