This piece was inspired by Thing 1 and Thing 2, mischievous characters who create chaos and fun in 'The Cat in the Hat' by Dr. Seuss. And the duo has since been featured in their own line of "Dr. Seuss's Things" books for toddlers. So I'm sharing Thing One and Thing Two, a compact, restless image made of two tilted panels set against a dark field. Bright neon marks in lime, electric pink, aqua and pale yellow dart across the surfaces like a crowded shorthand of eyes, suns, jagged teeth and small faces. Peeled corners and faint adhesive traces give a collage-like sense of things lifted and placed, while chalky white arcs and scraped marks add motion, as if the panels are slowly orbiting. It sits between playful chaos and steady rhythm, a little urgent and a little mischievous.
