Rice, bread, beans, and a cold Vitamalt to wash it all down. Different prices, a different Nigeria. A vintage Vitamalt ad anchors the canvas. But the caricatures tell today’s story. The customer leans in desperate; abeg add 1 meat, madam add more now. She eyes him from behind her pots, unmoved; no fisi(extra portion) today. What once cost coins now costs a man his dignity. Blues and purples wash across the surface, heavy with a nostalgia that hurts when compared to now. She fed us all once. Today, most can barely afford to ask for more.
