Misty Moore and More

This piece is another gloomy day in the North of England outside of Manchester. In Winter the heather is dormant and nothing seems to flower. The air is cold and dank and the views are obscured by mist and a steady drizzle of frozen that stings my face as I walk on the muddy paths. Still, there is a quiet and beauty to the landscape when nature seems to be sleeping. I love taking long walks in mid Winter. The muted colors, decaying ochre and brown shrubs and leaves provide comfort. There is kinship and solidarity in the calm murky afternoons of January in the UK. Nature herself is saying that she is resting. I tried to capture this sense of ambivalent pleasure and melancholy in the piece.
