Cottage Gardens are in my top favorite places on earth to spend time. One of my biggest goals now is to do more gardening. That is difficult at the moment because I do not have a garden. But absence in this case really does make the heart grow fonder. I imagine myself digging in the cool earth of early spring in the Cotswolds. I make quick brushstrokes to paint a sky and a semblance of rolling meadow. Then, I begin to absentmindedly make all the flowers I see in 'y garden. Colors that probably only exist in imagination: fluorescent buttercup, neon green and a red out of a crayon box. I keep making flowers. Whenever I feel sad and full of regret I go back to my Cotwolds cottage tend my flowers. What is it Dr. Pangloss said in Candide? 'On doit cultivee son jardin.'
