Mommy Angel

After my mom passed on on June 10, 2024, I was not so much sad as bereft. It was like a huge part of myself simply collapsed like a black hole. You know, all the therapy, meditation and self-helps on earth cannot mitigate the immense of someone you love. My mom was the finest person I ever knew. She was generous, kind, literate, funny, great to hang out with and the best cook I have ever known. I think what hurt her the most was not becoming frail, but losing her memory. Still, her warmth and humor lasted until the very end. I found some photos of her and items that reminded me of her and put them together on this canvas, almost in a numb trance. She was so giving, caring and joyful that it would be wrong to remain desolate in her absence. Mommy Angel is a small marker for the gigantic momentous postive influence mom had on me my whole life. Gold, Ochre, Sunset Warmth, Glowing, Sparkling, Resonant and overflowing with wisdom. If only I could capture a drop of her essence in a piece of art!
