Finding a visual metaphor for one of the most fundamental concepts in the Holy Quran — the "Straight Path" (Sirat al-Mustaqim) — took me nearly seven years. In my practice, I seek to document physical manifestations of human life and capture profound spiritual truths. For years, I searched for an image that could truly embody a life walked in harmony with the Divine: a path free from chaotic anxiety, grounded in serene grace, measured joy, and humble peace. I found my answer early one morning during an expedition in the village of Balsa'id. At dawn, right after morning prayers, I saw an elderly man — around eighty years old — walking along a falaj, a traditional Omanian​/​Arabian irrigation water channel. He moved with quiet purpose through the first rays of morning light to go about his daily work. In that fleeting moment, every symbol fell into place: The Falaj (Water Channel): The very source of life and sustenance. The Morning Light: A symbol of Divine guidance and presence. The Lush Surrounding Vegetation: A testament to fertility, grace, and spiritual fruitfulness. The Perspective: Framing the scene gently from behind the palm trees reflects our role not as interrupters of the natural order, but as respectful witnesses to it. The Straight Path is the culmination of a seven-year search. Through this piece, I invite viewers to pause, slow down, and reflect on their own journey — to contemplate what it means to walk fearlessly and peacefully in alignment with one's true purpose.
