I am fascinated by what is not always seen in a work of art​,​ but what is felt when contemplating it. I like to view and create visual art that communicates with the soul​,​ that speaks to something deep within us. I am motivated by my desire to share beauty​,​ joy​,​ an impression​,​ an emotion​,​ a memory​,​ wonder. Colour​,​ water​,​ light​,​ flowers​,​ nature​,​ weather​,​ and many other things inspire me. I see the world as a series of compositions in colour. I express myself through painting​,​ often using mixed media​,​ in which ink​,​ with its saturated hues​,​ usually plays a central role. I sometimes paint with coloured ink and water alone. I enjoy using the natural properties of water media to create ambiance and prefer to paint on a wet surface​,​ in order to take full advantage of these. I think oil painting would also be an excellent medium for me and am looking forward to exploring this further. Photography is another of my favourite modes of expression. In my frequently ethereal​,​ abstract images​,​ whether created with my camera and my editing program or my more traditional materials​,​ composition​,​ rhythm​,​ and colour harmonies are key. I am passionate about ICM (Intentional Camera Movement)​,​ depth of field​,​ and experimental photography methods that lend themselves well to expressionism. Sometimes I plan my work out in a detailed way​,​ but more often I work in a spontaneous​,​ intuitive​,​ responsive way. Most of my paintings have many layers of washes. I also love doing ICM photo series of my paintings​,​ creating new works of art with different colour palettes​,​ moods​,​ compositions... The possibilities are endless. In all my work​,​ whether it's created by what I call "hands dirty art" or digital photography​,​ the image always has the last say. I was born in Canada into a family that really valued art. I did some studio art classes in University and started my art career with a couple of duo exhibits in the nineties in Saskatoon​,​ Saskatchewan​,​ my home town​,​ under my maiden name​,​ Bowman. When living in Montreal in the early nineties​,​ the energy and beauty of the city lights at night inspired me to create a series of oil pastel nocturne cityscapes ​,​ which I then exhibited in my first duo exhibition. I moved away from visual art while raising my family​,​ but felt a strong urge to return to it and enrolled in an local art workshop for adults in my community in Switzerland a couple of year ago. It was in this workshop that I discovered how much I love to work with ink. Over the past couple of years​,​ I have regained my passion for creating visual art and have exhibited my paintings and photography in several venues in Switzerland​,​ my home of over a decade.
