Hello, I'm Gertrude S.

Artist and Founder of Sgraffitart by Gertrude Small-scale art. Enlarged worlds. Inspired by gemmology and my own interpretation of the sgraffito technique. During my training as an FGA-certified gemologist and throughout my many years of professional experience in the world of jewelry and gemstones, I learned to look closely and recognize what is special in the seemingly ordinary. I love finding the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary. The structures, colors, and inclusions in minerals and gemstones still fascinate me to this day and shape my artistic perspective. Painting has been a part of my life since childhood. While I used to create mainly realistic paintings and portraits, today I am less interested in the image itself than in what lies hidden in the color, texture, and layering. In 2025 my creative spirit came alive again, and I began to put my feelings and thoughts down on paper, teaching myself and relying on my intuition. My paper sizes kept getting smaller and smaller. I watched as my pictures evolved and saw how differently my inner perception expressed itself from moment to moment. In the process, I discovered more and more creative ideas. This gave rise to my artistic identity. My brand, Sgraffitart by Gertrude, was born out of this process.
