Mary Bay is a Swedish contemporary artist whose work is rooted in colour, movement and human connection. At the heart of her practice is a fascination with the strength people carry — our ability to grow, to change and to find joy, both within ourselves and through one another. Her figurative works explore sisterhood, community and the power of standing together, while her abstract paintings give space to movement, energy and joy. Bold colour and layered texture run through both, creating a visual language that is vibrant, tactile and distinctly her own. Mary’s perspective is shaped by a lifelong interest in people and movement. A professional background in social work, leadership and children’s rights has given her a close view of both human vulnerability and remarkable resilience, while years of figure skating and Taekwondo have shaped her sense of rhythm, balance, discipline and physical energy. These worlds meet in her art — work created to bring colour, strength and joy into everyday life.
