Ahh...

For Pride Month, I wanted to revisit one of my favorite visual languages—the iconic lovers in the water inspired by Roy Lichtenstein—and imagine it through a different lens. The romance comics and pop art imagery of the 1950s and 60s rarely included LGBTQ+ relationships. Love stories existed, but many people never had the opportunity to see themselves reflected in them. This mosaic is my small act of rewriting that narrative. Built from thousands of pieces of hand-cut glass, this work celebrates color, joy, tenderness, and the simple freedom to love openly. The swirling water becomes a place of connection rather than concealment—a moment where two people can simply exist together. I'd like to think that if artists of that era had been free to tell every love story, perhaps more images like this would have existed. This piece is both a tribute to pop art history and a celebration of how far we've come.
