I hope that viewers will experience a bit of the awe I feel for Arizona in its variety, majesty and timeless mystery. I chose a found piece of wood in order to ground the work in something organic and unusual. The subject matter emerged by accident after several layers of sketches and paint on paper and canvas. The piece feels organic to me, like something found on the ground, formed by weather and time. To me, it looks like strata or layers of rock, sunbaked soil and aeons of time. What comes to your mind looking at ARIZONA? I would love to hear your impressions?
