Year: 2026 Medium: Found object; Gold painted stainless spoon, Oil Pastels, Markers, Acrylic on canvas. Collection: Eulogy of Basquiat In the year 2017, I found fake gold. My character then could be described as the fictional character Smeagol from the Lord of the rings franchise. Delusion and debauchery became the order of the years that followed, until Art saved me. The found object is a gold painted spoon, a symbolic piece of item that represents both delusion for quick money making schemes and indulgence. With written texts of how money today has lost its value since its backing of the gold standard was removed. My use of colors, draws from my emotion as I try to recall how the year 2017 - 2021 was lived, living like any day could have been my last.
