The eponymous track Space Oddity has the iconic line, 'Ground Control to Major Tom,' but there are many other equally memorable songs on the record. The song that inspired this work is called 'Memory of a Free Festival' and is about a time and place when people can enjoy life together without judgment or conflict. I hope viewers will enjoy the bright colors and playful abstract suggestions of crowds enjoying nature. I did this piece while listening to the aforementioned album and song. I wanted to evoke the feeling of being free with other revelers in nature in the sunshine--rather than figuratively depict this.
