I love a good Fen! Fen landscapes are peat-forming wetlands fed by mineral-rich water. They usually showcase flat horizons, vast reed beds, slow-moving waterways, and rare wildlife. The Great Fen is my favorite right now. It is a newish Nature preserve in Huntingdon, United Kingdom, the result of a massive landscape restoration project. The great undertaking links two National Nature Reserves, Holme Fen and Woodwalton Fen, to recreate an expansive wild wetland. I am most in love with this particular Fen environment when the meadow are afire with blooms, at the onset of night!
