In its Element

In this painting, a tiger is lying among flowers. I deliberately didn’t want to make it aggressive, snarling, or showing strength in the way we are so used to seeing. It isn’t trying to prove anything at all. It is simply lying there — and just look at how much power there is in it when it is completely calm. I think we often see strength in a very one-sided way. A strong person doesn’t necessarily have to be tough, confident, loud, or always ready to stand their ground. Character and tenderness, boldness and beauty, calmness and enormous inner power can all exist naturally within the same person — one does not cancel out the other. That is why the flowers appeared beside the tiger — as a continuation of its strength. Because real strength doesn’t make a person hard. On the contrary, it gives you the freedom to be caring, to feel deeply, to love beautiful things, and still not lose yourself. We can have different sides within us too, and we don’t have to choose just one. You can be strong and deeply sensitive. You can be gentle and still know how to protect what matters to you. You can take up space without taking it away from others. You have the right to take your place. In the room. And in your own life.
