I have always been drawn to the simplicity of the circle — a shape that feels complete, yet never truly closed. With *Kuro no Enso*, I wanted the black to have depth and presence, while the irregular white edges keep the piece from feeling too controlled. At the centre, the circle appeared almost instinctively, as a quiet point of balance within the texture. For me, this work is about accepting imperfection. I like that nothing is perfectly defined — the surface, the edges, the circle. It is this tension between strength and fragility that gives the painting its meaning.
