I wanted to explore the contrast between the purity of white and the strength of black. I began with fine, almost controlled lines, then let the brush take over — broader, freer, more instinctive. What I like is the tension that remains between those two gestures: control and spontaneity, structure and freedom. The empty spaces are just as important to me as the marks themselves. *Kuro no Mai* — “the dance of black” — came naturally as a name. It reflects the movement I see in the painting, and the feeling of letting go that I had while creating it.
