Some paintings tell a story beyond what you see on the canvas. Lil' G is one of those pieces. Beginning with layers of acrylic paint, I built the surface by incorporating texture directly into the canvas, creating a tactile work that invites the viewer to experience not only the color but the physicality of the painting itself. The rich reds, subtle golds, and weathered textures evolved organically, revealing a landscape of memory, emotion, and light. This piece is an homage to a dear friend and fellow abstract painter whose fearless approach to color, texture, and emotion left an indelible mark on my own artistic journey. Our friendship was built on a mutual respect for the creative process, countless conversations about art, and the kind of brutally honest critiques that only true friends can give. We challenged each other to take risks, push boundaries, and never settle for the expected. While Lil' G reflects my own artistic voice, it also honors the creative spirit of an artist who inspired me in ways that continue to influence my work. It serves as a reminder that those who shape our journey never truly leave us—they live on in every brushstroke, every layer, and every painting that follows.
