Lollipop Bog
Lollipop fog is inspired by a trip. I took to the marshes and swamps of Jutland, Denmark. Most of the time I was there studying the Peat Bog mummies discovered in the acidic mud there. These were horrifically murdered Vikings that were perfectly preserved. However, I was also struck by how rich and fascinating this place was. The environment was ecologically so diverse! There were very bizarre flowers that grew up out of the bog, which supposedly has no oxygen or nutrients for plants should not support plant life, let alone such beautiful flowers. The colors of the flowers were bold yet also many of them were pale pinks and blue pastel colored. the whole placed looked like a scene from Whoville in a Dr. Seuss book. All the flowers had tulip shaped transckucent halos of cream and white. When I came again the next day, most of them had died off. There were new sprouts for flowers, but the ones I'd seen the day before were gone, vanished into the bog.
