Somehow, while stopping briefly at a kiosk before we went to our camp, I lost my group. There was no cell service on the desert Playa and I wandered around as it got darker and colder. Every few yards I walked, someone would come out of their tent, ask me if they could help me and offer me food and drink. This happened so much that instead of feeling afraid, I was having a good time. Eventually someone contacted a ranger who had heard from my friends, so we were reunited. I hope viewers will sense that being lost is not necessarily a bad thing and can lead one to revelations. I chose to use everything from glass jar tops to plastic containers, crinkly, ridged paper and layers of gel and glue. From my feelings and memories of this complex experience, I attempted to compose a kind of homage to the sacred power of being lost.
