DEATH, ETHEREAL, SPIRIT, TIME TRAVELLER Description This work was inspired by the episode of the Twilight Zone where an old woman locks herself in her apartment and never goes outside because she is convinced death is stalking her. As a child I found this story both scary and in the end...oddly comforting. After all the intense anxiety the old lady experiences, it turns out her instinct was correct! Death is coming for her. Mr. Death, however, as played by the handsome, kind and charming you g Robert Redford. He makes a very sexy, personable Grim Reaper. In this work I focused solely on my feelings of the experience. I hope viewers will enjoy the use of curving lines and colors here. Even though the work is ostensibly about Death, it’s really about Life and all the processes we go through and experience in our journey. That is, simply living we know on some level that Death is waiting for us. If not today then at some point, he will come and take us! To create an oddly soothing image of death, I painted juicy layers of thick paint then added inin layers of soft acrylic gel and raked it with a wooden spoon. I wanted to create undulating, swirling eddies of spirit, echoing the colors, circular design, and iridescent paint. In the end, it actually reminds me of the cover of a Grateful Dead Album! Grateful indeed.
