This piece was inspired by a recurring where I slowly realize that sometimes, people you think are my friends are actually exploiting me for some narcissitic purpose. It doesn't that often in my waking life but when it has occured it has always deeply wounding and traumatic. I chose to paint a pleasant peach colored background. Incidentally I read in a feng shui book that you should never your living room Peach, Coral or Terra Cotta because that tends to make your partner unfaithful. Not sure that is true. I used light washes of paint on the faces of the Frenemies as they face each othee in profile. Then I doodled the details and expressions with acrylic pens. I am behind the two frenemiez facing forward. None of is make eye contact. I added floating leaves in the air around and in front of my face, which indicates my own obfuscation and confusion.
