Picasso Picnic was inspired by all the dreams I have about famous artist and what we would do if we were having a picnic in a beautiful meadow. In the dreams I am so mesmerized by the artist that I never say a word. I just listen to them regaling each other about their perceptions. The first thing I actually did making this painting had nothing to do with the painting. I started doodling a little ten inch fiber boards as I wondered what the dreams all meant. I was too nervous to make a whole painting, so I used marker pens to create playful designs on the fiber boards. Then I arrange them on the canvas. And glued them down to it. Only then did I truly start layering craft items and having fun! This piece was made by several different processes. The first thing I did was actually two layers of queso, and then several layers of garden green colors colors that made me feel good and that would serve his background should anything not cover the full Canvas. I put a layer of glue across the canvas and then started arranging tiny little gemstones then I added a layer of glitter, some paint and some felt cut outs. Then I added cuts out I made from self stick colored foam designed sheets created for preschoolers to enjoy. Then I affixed all this to the canvas and realized it was not stocking well. So then layers,of transparent glue. This process continued off and on for two years. Finally, it really looked like a garden to me. Perhaps even a place where cubism, expressionism, fauvism znd naive impression could converse!
