Pink Triangle Primacy is a work that is an offshoot of the earlier piece, Pink Triangle Protection. I got fixated on the idea of the pink triangle after working on the other piece. I was struck by how powerful the color is all by itself, pinks and corals and mauves and lilac. All those colors are considered feminine. That is to say that a man that wears peach or coral or pink or mauve or carnation is not really a man. This is silly, of course, and not at all true. I guess the point here is that for decades or at least the turn of the 20th century we have thought of the word pink as being somehow weak or less than masculine. This is very strange when you come to think about it and I did come to think about it. So really I think the point here is that pastel colors are not at all week and in fact, they can be as powerful or relaxing as we choose. Pleasure is a pastel color and so is joy.
