Have you ever had that nightmare when someone is chasing and you run and you run until you are exhausted. Then, knowing they will arrive and kill you at any moment, you start thinking fast. You know the feeling. Like your total existence and continued life depends on the decision you will make in the next 3-5 seconds. Where can I hide is always my first and only thought in this recurring dream. Only recently did the possible meaning of the nightmare clear to me. What do you think the dream is really about ? What comes to mind as you look at PLACES TO HIDE? I would love to hear your ideas! To attempt to recreate the emotional and visual qualities of the nightscape I experienced, I chose to work in little baby steps. I arranged nine small scenes to sit together like little places to hide, each tile holding objects, faces, and repeating motifs. A steady rhythm of eyes, circles and zigzags gives the piece a playful, watchful feel while quieter tiles let the composition breathe.
