I have always had a temper. This lack of emotional regulation has been my curse in life. My mother used to tell me that I needed to learn to zip it. However, I'm still learning. Often I have dreams and wake up, covered in sweat there are always monsters in these streams and they're always out of control. I wonder what it's really about? I suppose it's really about me just as all dreams are really about the self Reptilian reasons is really about losing one's temper and the fear of losing temper I chose to work on an MDF board a black MDF board that I purchased at a local store. I think the store was called Jerry's art around. Having woken from one of these horrible reptilian rage dreams I decided that it was time to put it down and make a work of art out of the memory while it was still fresh. I started by laying down some colors that came to mind from the dream. The environment was a lush, stifling, mumid primordial rain forest. I laid down swathes of color: incandescent greens neon blues and other colors that awaken my emotions. Once a layer of paint dried, I went over it again and added some Matte gel sealant . Then I got out the pastels. I really loved working in pastels because you can smooth them with your finger-- create a blurred effect-- a sense of motion. The other fun thing about oil pastels, in this case, is that on when working on or over a water-based painted area, the two surfaces tend to repel each other. I like this effect because it makes the pastel stand out more. Do you have any reptilian reasons of your own?
