The River Tees, flowing through my hometown of Middlesbrough, is forever defined by the indomitable silhouette of the Transporter Bridge. Constructed during the town's industrial heyday, it stands as a monument to an era when Middlesbrough's steelworks helped shape the world and the town thrived with confidence, ambition, and purpose. Today, that landscape is quieter and more austere, its former grandeur softened by time. Yet the spirit of those remarkable years remains woven into the identity of the town and its people. This painting is my romantic tribute as the "Riviera of the Tees." Reflected in her sunglasses is the Transporter Bridge—a symbol of Middlesbrough's proud heritage and enduring character. Like a cherished memory glimpsed in reflection, it serves as a reminder of a once-great figure that continues to watch over the river and the town it helped define.
