Meet Sibling Rivalry. What do you supposed inspired this piece? Objects and paper gather on a dark, glitter-specked field, neon pinks and turquoise threading through ochre and gold. Repeated eye motifs and small mask-like faces lend a ritual, slightly mysterious energy, while tightly patterned clusters sit next to softer areas so there’s always something new to find. I like that it feels playful but edged at the same time. I used a wooden street sign I found as the 'canvas.' Originally I think the sign said something like, NO EXIT. For some reason that was the trigger to create the piece. I really am not sure what the sign said, just that it made such an impression that I wanted to cover it up, deface and transform it!
