This Digital painting that I created has very many spirals of varied sizes which represent a mind looping through fragments of the past, trying to process sensory memories that feel stuck or out of context. I am depicting an emotionally intense experience that many trauma survivors feel and relive in their mind and memories. I used purple, mauve and pink tones which represent deep emotional processing, grief and the “ bruised” feeling of the mind. The pink colours indicate vulnerability, the inner child, or raw, exposed nerve endings. The pink spirals weaving through black spirals capture the sensation of an intrusive trauma memory passing through.
