I had been reading artivles about how Scorpion Venom was being used in antidotes and new medicines. I thought that was way cool. It must have blossomed as a network of ideas in my unconscious. I hope viewers will see past the ostensibly creepy, sinister vibe and dark subject matter to the underlying fascination and mystery of Scorpions. And Venom of all kinds! I chose to use a cut out technique to create a layered montage, first because I thought it was intriguing. Secondly because it was a technique in which I did not have a lot of experience. Very often I peruse and flop through picture books about different art techniques. As I am extremely ADHD prone, I rarely focus long enough to truly follow and learn a new skill. Story of my life! And yet I have found that it is very satisfying to try new approaches that I do not actually understand. It makes it a creative adventure for me and very stimulating.
