Arthur Dlamini is a South African multidisciplinary visual artist working across painting, photography, mixed media, and spatial thinking. Dlamini approaches art-making as both a creative and contemplative practice. His artistic process frequently begins with meditation and contemplation before moving into drawing, symbolic construction, painting, photography, and material experimentation. The studio therefore functions not simply as a site of production, but as a contemplative space in which internal experience is translated into visual form. Across his work, the human body is often understood as more than a physical structure: it becomes a sacred vessel, spiritual architecture, and meeting point between the visible and invisible worlds. Through this framework, Dlamini explores consciousness, transformation, self-realisation, and humanity’s relationship to forces that exist beyond immediate perception. Recurring symbols, geometric structures, figures, water, colour, bodily forms, spiritual architectures, and the fish as an evolving visual icon constitute an expanding personal visual language across his practice. Rather than functioning as fixed illustrations, these elements operate as carriers of memory, consciousness, movement, transition, spiritual inquiry, and transformation. Rooted in African knowledge systems while engaging contemporary questions of identity and consciousness, His work seeks to create encounters in which viewers are invited not simply to observe an image or object, but to enter a contemplative relationship with it, one that acknowledges the interconnectedness of body, spirit, ancestry, nature, and the cosmos.
